Jack Doppelt is Associate Professor at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, specializing in legal affairs (both how the law impacts journalism and how journalists cover legal affairs). His legal experience includes clerking for Justice Thomas J. Moran of the Illinois Supreme Court after graduating from the University of Chicago Law School. His journalistic experience includes freelance reporting, investigative reporting for the Better Government Association and for WBBM radio (CBS), and producing for WBBM.

He is co-author of the book The Journalism of Outrage: Investigative Reporting and Agenda-Building in America and has published numerous scholarly articles in the area of legal affairs coverage and the news media impact on the criminal justice system.
